Masterpiece Watch Restoration Policy

At Masterpiece Watch Restoration our policy reflects how we value our customers and their watches to the highest degree. We expect that our repairs to be done to factory standards and be like new, when completed. In keeping with these standards, we will lay out below how our warranties for our repairs work.

Concerning Warranties

Masterpiece Watch Restoration policy on warranties includes the following: we will not warranty damage on a watch that was not worked on by us. Masterpiece Watch Restoration cannot be held responsible for work not preformed by us. This includes any partial repair preformed by our Master Watchmaker or Watch Technician will cover what we worked on.

Our one year warranty on overhauls does not cover damage a result of negligence by the owner of watch. This includes for example, using the watch in underwater environments that the watch is not rated for. The warranty will not cover cosmetic damage including but not limited to scratches, dents, and damage to the band unless caused by a defect in workmanship. The warranty will not cover damage caused by owners adding additional cosmetic parts to our repairs. Our warranty will not cover any damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, fire, earthquake or other external cause. The warranty does not cover defects caused by normal wear and tear or otherwise due to the normal aging of the watch.

Concerning Water Resistance and Pressure Tests

In regards to Masterpiece Watch Restoration Policy on our pressure tests, we provide an assurance not a guarantee of water resistance. We cannot warranty damage caused by water. This is due to the fact that watches are not designed to be waterproof. Pressure tests determine if your watch is water resistant or not. Pressure tests do not diagnose where the leak is coming from. They do not they replace the faulty part either. Are you interested in learning more about water resistance? Check out this article!

Our master watchmaker and watch technician diagnose the watch after a water resistance test and determine which parts need to be replaced. Parts replacements do cost extra. Parts are not included in the pressure test cost.

Concerning Estimates and Estimate Fees

Thirdly, Masterpiece Watch Restoration Policy’s concerning estimates and estimate fees are as follows. When we inspect and initially evaluate your watch we are determining a ballpark price for a repair. In addition, these prices are based on what the watchmaker can see without preforming a full dismantling of your watch. Furthermore, parts issues may not be fully visible without a full dismantling. The dismantling is labor intensive and time consuming, it is however the only way to know for sure exactly how much a repair is going to cost. For this reason we do charge a estimate fee, determined by our master watchmaker or watch technician to provide a complete dismantling.

Fully detailed written estimates provided by us are valid 30 days after you declined the work. If you decline the fully detailed estimate we retain the estimate fee. It is Masterpiece Watch Restoration Policy once the watch leaves our store, the detailed estimates are no longer valid as once the watch is outside the safety of our store it is impossible to calculate how much more damage the watch could suffer.

Concerning Failed Battery Installations

Finally, in some instances a battery installation does not solve the issue for a watch not working. Consequently, in these cases if you wish to pick up the watch we do charge a failed battery charge of $15 dollars to cover our time investment in opening the case and installing the battery. If, however you do wish to have the watch overhauled and brought to working order this charge is waived. Please check out other pages for more information concerning battery installation. Thank you. Have a nice day!
